Getting Started
Here's an overview of what it takes in order for you to create your presence on the Internet. Follow the simple step-by-step instructions to have your web page up and running quickly.
STEP 01 Register Your Domain
First, register a domain name with Webfreebie.com. It will be accessible within approximately five days, depending on when the domain name was registered or transferred. Click
here
to register or transfer a domain.
You can choose to park or get your domain hosted for FREE upon registration. Webfreebie provides 30 MB of disk space, a POP Email account, FTP access, and FrontPage Server Extensions. Click

to learn more.
STEP 02 Build Your Web Site
There are two options in building a website. You can either write your own HTML codes if you know HTML programming, or you can use an HTML editor such as Microsoft FrontPage, Netscape Composer, or another HTML editor.
Even if you use the mentioned HTML Editors, you need to know the basics of HTML so you wouldn't be confused about the TAGS.
If you want to learn the basics of HTML click

Once you've created your pages, remember to save the first page as 'index.html' (without quotes and case sensitive). This will allow you to upload your pages to Webfreebie's servers.
STEP 03 Upload Your Web Pages to Webfreebie
Uploading means transferring your files to our servers so you can view them online. Once you sign-up, Webfreebie will give you FTP access. This will help you publish your files on the net.
To upload your Web pages, you have three options: Use an FTP client application such as WS_FTP or CuteFTP (for Windows users) or Fetch (for Macintosh users). Please see our FTP publishing tutorials on how to upload your files to our servers using FTP.
Use Webfreebie's Web Upload option. Our online Web Upload is a Web browser connected to our FTP servers. The Web Upload can perform most of the file operations needed to manage a website. You can use it to navigate the directories of your website and to view files. You can also create and delete subdirectories or change permissions by right clicking a file then choosing the properties option.
Many of the HTML publishing editors have built-in FTP capabilities. You don't have to use a separate Web-authoring client and a separate FTP client. These components are packaged together. Click
here
for information on publishing with FrontPage and Netscape Composer.
STEP 04 Take a Look at Your New Web site!
After the index.html file is uploaded to the main directory, you can view the page on your website.
We have compiled a large selection of tutorials to guide you through this process. Have fun learning and good luck!!!
